You're invited to
Chilli's 8th birthday
Sunday December 14, 2025
9.30am – 12pm
Geelong Botanic Gardens
Come and celebrate another year of Chilli Con Carne by relaxing with us in the gardens! BYO friendly greyhounds. Please let us know you're coming by filling out the form below.
Instead of bringing a gift, please consider donating to one of his favourite greyhound rescues below or checking out Long Dog Club's store.
Got a question?
Can I come even if I don't have a greyhound?
Absolutely! Humans without dogs are just as welcome to join us. However, if you have another breed, please know that they might not be very popular with the hounds so we’d prefer if they could stay at home or off to the side.
When is Chilli’s actual birthday?
Chilli’s birthday is on the 23rd of December but we know it’s the busiest time of year so we thought we’d celebrate early!
Can I bring a gift for Chilli?
This is very kind! But in lieu of purchasing a gift, Chilli would love it if you could donate to a greyhound rescue of your choice instead. Some of his suggestions are Greyt Greys, Amazing Greys and Gumtree Greys.
Will there be food?
There will be a cake for the dogs to share but otherwise, beverages + cafe food can be purchased from the cafe in the gardens, Where You Meet.
I have accessibility needs or would like more info.
Extra details including about location can be found further down the page. There is disabled parking and ramp access to the entrance of the Gardens at the end of Podbury drive. There are some steps and gravel paths further into the gardens – we will meet on the lawn in front of Where You Meet cafe. However, we will be on the grass which can pose some accessibility challenges for some mobility aid users.
We recognise the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard and will do our best to accomodate your needs and ensure you’re comfortable at our events. The gardens have plenty of places to sneak off to if you or your hound find yourselves overwhelmed! Please email Chilli's mum, Kayley, if you have a question or specific access needs.
Location
Meet us on the lawn of the Geelong Botanic Gardens, near WYM (Where You Meet) Café. Corner of Eastern Park Circuit &, Podbury Drive. East Geelong
There is free parking available at the gardens. Accessible parking and access to the entrance of the Gardens are at the end of Podbury Drive. Please be mindful that as it’s a public space, other dogs and humans will be enjoying the gardens too! Your greyhound must be on-leash as required by law. Please pick up after them and don’t leave any litter.
Important info
Please prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone in attendance – if your dog is reactive or uncomfortable in large groups, please leave them at home or keep safely from a distance.
Be mindful in your interactions with others. Please supervise your hound at all times and ask first whether their dog would like to interact with yours. If your dog isn’t socialised or comfortable in large groups, please leave them at home or off to the side of the gathering. Please be familiar with dog behavioural cues and don’t ignore signs that a dog may be uncomfortable.
