Greyhound Adoption Map | Policy + Requests for Edits

Last updated: July 2026

Disclaimer and liability

The Greyhound Adoption Map on Long Dog Club's website is an independently maintained directory of greyhound adoption and rehoming organisations across Australia. We are committed to keeping listings as accurate, and up to date as possible.

Inclusion on this map does not constitute an endorsement of, or affiliation with, any listed organisation. We make no representations or warranties regarding the conduct, policies, practices, or suitability of any organisation featured here.

Users are encouraged to conduct their own research before engaging with any organisation, including reviewing adoption processes, welfare policies, and any publicly available information relevant to their decision. We accept no responsibility or liability for any experience, outcome, or transaction arising from contact with a listed organisation.

If you have concerns about a listed organisation, please contact us using the details below.

Who can submit a request

Any individual or representative of a listed or unlisted organisation may submit a request to add, amend, or remove a listing. We ask that requests from organisations be submitted by someone with authority to act on the organisation's behalf.

How to submit a request

To submit a request, email us

Please include the following information in your request:

  • Organisation name
  • Nature of the request (new listing / amendment / removal)
  • Specific details to be added, changed, or removed
  • Your name and relationship to the organisation
  • A contact email address in case we need to follow up

What we can update

We can amend the following details for existing listings: organisation name, approximate location, website URL, social media links, donation links, and contact information. We do not publish private residential addresses.

Removal requests

The map is most useful when it's as accurate and comprehensive as possible. Being listed on the map requires no ongoing commitment from your organisation, and in exchange, you gain visibility to an engaged audience of people who are actively looking to adopt.

That said, if your organisation has ceased operating, or if there are specific factual errors you'd like corrected, we ask that you reach out to us via the amendment process above so we can update your listing accurately rather than remove it entirely.

If, after consideration, you would like to request removal, you may do so by contacting us at hello@longdogclub.com.au. Removal requests are reviewed and endeavour to be actioned within 14 days. We reserve the right to maintain a record of previously listed organisations for the integrity of the directory, and to re-list using publicly available information should your organisation resume operations in the future.

New listing requests

We welcome suggestions for organisations not yet on the map. All new listings are reviewed before being added. We reserve the right to decline a listing if the organisation does not meet our basic criteria.

Listing Criteria

To be listed, an organisation must:

  • Operate as a formal entity facilitating the rehoming of greyhounds or other rescue dogs, rather than as an individual or informal arrangement
  • Have a demonstrated and ongoing track record of safely rehoming greyhounds, free of documented animal welfare violations or aversive training methods
  • Function as an intermediary between the dog and the adopter — meaning there is a formal process involved, and does not come directly from the track or trainer

How organisations are categorised

Listings on the map are categorised to help users make informed decisions. Organisations affiliated with the greyhound racing industry — including state-based GAP programs — are labelled as "industry." Independent rescues and community groups are listed without this label.

Organisations funded by or operating within the greyhound racing industry are eligible for inclusion provided they meet the above criteria and operate a distinct, formal adoption program. These organisations are labelled as "industry" on the map so that users have the context they need to make an informed decision. Inclusion of these organisations reflects our commitment to a complete directory, not an endorsement of the industry that funds them.

We reserve the right to apply these criteria at our discretion and to remove or decline listings where we have reasonable grounds to believe the above standards are not being met.

If you believe your organisation has been incorrectly categorised, you may submit an amendment request and we will review it.

Response times

We aim to review and respond to all requests within 5–10 business days. This is a volunteer-run project and response times may vary.
